Rusedski Likens Eala To Serena Williams
Former British No. 1 Greg Rusedski has compared Alex Eala’s global fan turnout and star power to Serena Williams, noting that passionate Filipino supporters follow her everywhere in the world to create an electric atmosphere.
Recall that Eala won her maiden WTA Tour title at the Washington Open by defeating Jessica Pegula in the final.

Her recent strong performances pushed her into the world top 20 rankings for the first time. She also reached the last 16 at Wimbledon after securing a major win over Iga Swiatek.
Rusedski clarified on his podcast Off Court with Greg that the comparison is about Eala’s rare ability to generate instant excitement, sell out stadiums, and draw massive crowds rather than career achievements.
She praised the 21-year-old Filipina star as one of the most exciting players on the WTA Tour due to her fearless, aggressive left-handed game and tendency to take the ball early.
“There’s only one other person that I can compare to her sort of star status,” he said at his podcast ‘Off Court with Greg’. “It’s Serena Williams.”

The young Filipino star has left the tennis world stunned after numerous victories against Top 10 opponents, including slaying defending champion Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon earlier this summer.
The youngster has also been compared to Emma Radacanu, whose extraordinary level in 2021 led her to lift the US Open title and become the first qualifier to ever lift a Grand Slam title in the modern era.
