Oluga Hails Tinubu Over Call To Support Female APC Candidates
The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in Osun State, Taiwo Oluga, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for urging party members to support female candidates ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Oluga gave the commendation in reaction to the President’s reported remarks during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), where he emphasised the need to support women seeking elective positions on the party’s platform.
In a statement, the former lawmaker described Tinubu’s position as a significant recognition of women’s competence, leadership capacity and contributions to the development of the party and the country.
She said the President’s call should inspire APC leaders and stakeholders to move beyond verbal assurances and provide practical support for female aspirants and candidates.
“As a woman in politics and a proud member of our great party, I deeply appreciate this recognition,” she said.
Oluga, who is seeking election to the House of Representatives, said women in the APC had demonstrated the capacity, commitment and loyalty required to occupy leadership positions and contribute meaningfully to national development.
She noted that greater support for women in politics would strengthen the party, promote inclusive leadership and create more opportunities for women to participate in decision-making.
According to her, the President’s declaration should translate into concrete actions that would enable female candidates to compete fairly and secure elective offices in the forthcoming elections.
The APC candidate therefore urged party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to complement Tinubu’s position by providing the necessary political backing and other forms of assistance to women contesting elections across the country.
“The time to support APC women is now. The time to turn words into action is now,” she declared.
Oluga expressed optimism that the President’s remarks would encourage increased female participation in the party’s political structures and strengthen efforts to promote women’s representation in governance.
She also expressed appreciation to Tinubu for his position and offered prayers for the success of the APC and the progress of Nigeria.
Her remarks come amid renewed calls for political parties to create more opportunities for women to participate in elective offices and contribute to governance at all levels.
