2027: A Vote For APC Is For Islamisation Of Nigeria – Christian Group

The Ecumenical Youth Association (EYA) has called on Nigerian Christians not to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, and said such would amount to Islamisation of Nigeria.

EYA, in a statement by Director Media Communication & Advocacy, Comrade Bro. Gbenga Adedamola, said the statements credited to Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir have “Unmasked a deliberate, sinister plot to gradually alienate Christians through false demographic data, political strangulation, and systemic subjugation reminiscent of the historical trajectory of Turkey.”

Sheikh Jingir was quoted as having stated that the APC Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket proves that Muslims outnumber Christians in Nigeria and that same-faith tickets must continue in 2027.

EYA said Sheikh Jingir’s inflammatory outburst was no mere slip of the tongue.

“Rather, it is raw, unfiltered proof of the muslim elite conspiracy designed to marginalise, minoritise, and suffocate Christians in our own homeland,” the group said.

EYA stated that the growing institutional backing for Sheikh Yahya Jingir by various Islamic groups and clerics is viewed by critics as a clear confirmation of an underlying agenda to Islamise Nigeria.

“This anxiety is further fueled by provocative rhetoric, including Yoruba cleric Shafiy Adeba’s assertion of a religious right to enslave non-Muslims, alongside the vocal defences of controversial anti-Christian statements by JNI Plateau State media aide Mallam Abdulsalam Ahmad and Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.

“These escalating tensions and unmasked declarations have sparked alarming questions regarding whether such ideology drives ongoing violence against believers, leading to urgent warnings that open hostility has been declared.

“Observers argue that because these divisive agendas can no longer be concealed, the Christian community must remain fully prepared and vigilant in the face of deepening sectarian polarisation,” the Christian group said.

It added that Sheikh Jingir’s statements have exposed the clandestine plots of the Muslim community, and accused Christians supporting a Muslim-Muslim ticket of compromise and of being sell-outs.

“These are individuals who bear the name of Christ but refuse to defend their Christ, who is the cornerstone of our Christian faith, having traded their birthright for a mess of pottage,” EYA said.

It called on Nigerian Christians not to vote for the APC Muslim-Muslim presidential and vice-presidential ticket, “if for no other reason than as a direct, unyielding response to this dangerous assault on our faith.

“If you vote for the APC or President Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2027, then truly you have severed your ties, and you have no right to call yourself a Christian.

“We must prove Jingir and his co-conspirators wrong through our collective resolve and the unmatched power of the ballot.

“The time for treating existential threats as ordinary, business-as-usual politics has officially come to an end.”
